Mt. Tanigawa Botanical Plates Mino Ware

The Mt. Tanigawa Botanical Tableware development project was initiated based on the original drawings from the botanical illustrated book commissioned by the town of Minakami, Gunma Prefecture. After about one year from the completion of the original drawings, the Tanigawa-dake Botanical Book No Vessel was completed in collaboration with the Oil Painting Techniques Laboratory of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

This botanical illustrated book was completed over a period of about two years by students and graduates of the Oil Painting Techniques Laboratory of Tokyo University of the Arts, with the aim of communicating the natural splendor of Mt. Tanigawa and preserving the precious highland plants that inhabit the area. Tanigawa, and to preserve the precious highland plants that inhabit Mt. Tanigawa.

About Mino Ware:

Mino ware (美濃焼, Minoyaki) is one of Japan's most beloved ceramic traditions, originating over 1,300 years ago in Gifu Prefecture. Celebrated for its natural textures, expressive glazes, and quiet beauty, Mino ware encompasses iconic styles like Oribe, Shino, and Setoguro — each reflecting a different facet of Japan's craft heritage. Whether you're looking for handmade Japanese bowls for everyday use or a statement piece for your table, our Mino ware collection brings authentic Japanese pottery directly from the kilns of Gifu to your home.
