Description

Inspired by the rich biodiversity of Mount Tanigawa, the Tanigawadake Botanical Plates in 8 inch size bring the quiet beauty of nature to the table. Each piece features delicately illustrated botanical motifs — wild grasses, seasonal blooms, and native flora, rendered with a soft, painterly touch that reflects the changing landscapes of Japan’s alpine regions. The organic compositions feel both serene and expressive, making every plate a subtle work of art.

Crafted with attention to detail, these 8 inch plates balance elegance with everyday functionality. Their refined ceramic body offers durability while maintaining a lightweight, comfortable feel in hand. Perfect for serving meals, salad, desserts, or appetizers, the Tanigawadake Botanical Plates elevate any dining experience with a sense of calm, natural sophistication. Whether used individually or as a set, they add a poetic, nature-inspired accent to both modern and traditional table settings.

Mt. Tanigawa Botanical Plate Collection - Mino Ware produced by Miyama

The Mt. Tanigawa Botanical Tableware development project was initiated based on the original drawings from the botanical illustrated book commissioned by the town of Minakami, Gunma Prefecture. After about one year from the completion of the original drawings, the Tanigawa-dake Botanical Book No Vessel was completed in collaboration with the Oil Painting Techniques Laboratory of Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.

This botanical illustrated book was completed over a period of about two years by students and graduates of the Oil Painting Techniques Laboratory of Tokyo University of the Arts, with the aim of communicating the natural splendor of Mt. Tanigawa and preserving the precious highland plants that inhabit the area. Tanigawa, and to preserve the precious highland plants that inhabit Mt. Tanigawa.
