Description
Crafted by renowned artisan Takashi Sogo, this Kohiki handmade plate exemplifies refined Japanese ceramic tradition. Its subtle white glaze and delicate texture highlight the natural beauty of the clay, making each piece uniquely elegant. Ideal for showcasing seasonal dishes, this limited-edition plate enhances presentation with understated sophistication, perfect for collectors and connoisseurs of fine ceramics.
This plate available in Small and Large showcases the traditional Kohiki technique, featuring a smooth matte finish and subtle, earthy tones. Its lightweight yet durable design ensures practical use for serving pasta, entrees, salads, or desserts.
*Sourced by our partner Niz Market in Tokyo.
Note:
Before using your new ceramic piece for the first time, we recommend soaking it in clean water for at least two hours. This allows the clay to fully absorb moisture, helping to prevent odors and stains from setting in.
Daily Care Instructions
Avoid leaving food or beverages in the vessel for extended periods (especially overnight), as moisture may seep through and leave water marks on surfaces. After use, be sure to dry the piece thoroughly to prevent any residual dampness.
On the Nature of Ceramics
Handcrafted ceramics naturally change over time, developing a richer patina with use. This gentle transformation is part of their unique charm. We hope this piece becomes a beloved part of your everyday life.
*We normally follow the estimated shipping timeline. There will be exceptions for some items depends on the availability. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we will contact you by email in that case.

About Takashi Sogo and Kohiki:
Takashi Sogo is a Japanese ceramic artist based in Okayama Prefecture, known for his refined, understated style that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern sensibilities. Each piece is handcrafted and kiln-fired by Sogo himself, resulting in unique works that celebrate natural textures, subtle tones, and the quiet beauty of everyday use.
Kohiki’s unique texture resonates with the Japanese aesthetic of wabi-sabi, a worldview that finds beauty in imperfection and impermanence. This sensibility remains deeply rooted in everyday Japanese life. Because of its warm, organic feel, Kohiki pottery is often used to complement and enhance the presentation of food on the dining table.

- Microwave-safe, but not recommended: To prevent cracks, avoid the microwave too frequently and extreme temperature jumps (thermal shock).
